Vodafone International Holdings had initiated arbitration proceedings against India under the India-Netherlands Bilateral Investment Protection Treaty (Treaty) challenging the retrospective amendment of the indirect share transfer provisions under the Indian tax law to bring Vodafone under the tax-liability net for acquisition of stake in an Indian company.
